Biographie

1936

Naissance à Romans dans la Drôme. Son père a dû quitter le Frioul en Vénétie Julienne pour venir gagner sa vie en France où il a épousé une Ardéchoise de Vals-les-Bains.

Pierre-Vincent was born in Romans (Drôme). His father had to leave Italy to earn his living in France where he married a girl from the Ardèche department.

1949

Pierre Palué qui vient de créer l’École d’Art de Romans lui communique son amour de la peinture et guide ses premiers essais.

His first art teacher was the painter Pierre Palué who made him love painting and gave him precious pieces of advice.

1952-55

Pierre-Vincent poursuit ses études au collège technique de la rue Bouvet à Romans, obtient son CAP, son brevet de dessin industriel puis son bac technique. Durant ses loisirs,il continue d’accumuler dessins et aquarelles.

He studied in a technical college of Romans and got a degree of draughtsmanship. During his free time he pursued his interest in drawing and painting which had started in his teenage years.

1954

Première exposition de groupe au salon de Romans. Le critique Claude Roger Marx est intéressé par ses dessins et l’encourage.

That was the year of his first exhibition.

1955-57

Il suit les cours de l’École des Arts décoratifs et du bâtiment de Grenoble. « Avec un crayon tu seras le meilleur »,lui a dit son père.

During these two years he was a student in the École des Arts décoratifs et du bâtiment (Art college for fine arts and architectural learning) in

Grenoble.“ Just take a pencil, his father said, and you will be one of the best ! ”

1958

Il travaille dans un atelier d’architecture mais poursuit ses études de paysages dans la région drômoise.

He worked in an architectural agency.

1959-61

27 mois de service militaire l’attendent. Il obtient son brevet d’aide-mécanicien avions moteurs, opte pour l’armée de l’air et se retrouve à Madagascar, où ses fonctions de bibliothécaire, en plus de son travail aux effectifs, lui permettent une cure de lecture et un apprentissage de diverses langues. « Madagascar, dit-il, un brin nostalgique, c’était Tahiti ! »

He had to spend 27 months in the French National Air Force in Madagascar, where he was in charge of the library, which enabled him to read a lot and to learn some foreign languages. “ Madagascar, he said, that was Paradise ! ”

1961-68

Il est chef d’agence dans l’atelier de Grenoble où il avait déjà travaillé, et peint durant ses loisirs.

Back to civil life he was promoted at the head of the architecturaL agency he had already been working for.

1968

C’est la rupture : « J’ai fait 68, je me mets au vert et je m’installe à Charpey dans la Drôme où je crée une Agence d’architecture ».

“ Like many young people I rebelled, then when it was all over, I made up my mind to settle in the country and to start my own architectural agency. ”

1968-2003

Il travaille en parallèle comme architecte designer et peintre et participe à de nombreuses expositions de peintures et de tapis d’auteur. Il voyage.

“For all the following years, I worked as an architect, but I never forgot my painting brushes and presented my works in many exhibitions. I travelled abroad, and for a time made art-tapestries”.

2003

Il cesse ses activités d’architecte pour se consacrer uniquement à la peinture.

“ I put an end to my architectural activities and from now on have given all my time to painting ”.
